Especially well dressed...
You're dressing up for the premier too, right? Right...?

The countdown for the long awaited Barbie movie started early over here at Lorenascape and to say I've been excited for this summer blockbuster would be the understatement of the century.

In a Barbie World...

Maybe you've been a longtime follower over on Instagram and you remember last year's birthday post featuring a fuchsia satin dress and the caption "24 and Barbie Core!" Guess you could say I was ahead of the curve *wink wink*.

But, all this talk around the rose-colored icon had me thinking there must be an ideal shade of pink for my color season, the classification based on the undertones and hues of a person's features. Well y'all, get ready to paint the town because we're about to dive into the fabulous world of pink palettes. From the vibrant warmth of spring to the cozy depths of winter, everyone has their season, and every season has its pink.

So, grab your rose-tinted glasses and let's embark on a journey to find your signature pink that will make heads turn and hearts skip a beat!

But Wait! How Do I Know Which Season I Am?

Before we dive into the multitude of pink-tones, let's break down the color seasons.

Named after the seasons of the year, this classification system breaks down into the 4 categories of Winter, Soring, Summer, and Fall, with each season having 3 subcategories.

A person falls into a season based on the coloration of their skin tone, hair color and eye color. Though it's not an exact science, the seasons are meant to guide users toward dressing in colors that most favor their features and accentuate their natural beauty. Palettes classified based on three color factors; warmth, hue and clarity. Warmth refers to how much yellow or blue exists in a color, with yellows and oranges making a color warmer and blues and purples being cooler. In this context, hue describes the saturation of the color, for example a pale icy blue versus a strong sapphire or cobalt blue. The clarity then describes purity or vividness of a color, with muted colors being on the opposite end of the spectrum from clear colors. The more a color is tinted by other colors, the less vibrant or crisp it appears. Different people may use different terms.

Though you can consult an expert stylist to identify your personal color season, filters online or websites like colorwise.me offer at home guidance to get you started. But now that we've got the basics, let's get into it!

Cold and Bold! Let's talk WINTER

When it comes to shades of pink, the WINTER palettes are not shy nor lacking! Thank goodness too, since yours truly is a Deep Winter. This palette is classified by cool toned, highly saturated and vivid colors. So it's no wonder finding pinks for this season is pretty easy. Much like the cobalt blues, kelly greens and Chinese reds that fill these palettes, the pinks here are unmistakably loud! Candy and bubblegum pinks may occasionally find themselves in a Winter's closet, with bright and clear diamond pinks making an occasional appearance. But classically hot pinks, magentas and fuchsia are best friends of this season and, believe me, there are so many to choose from!

From peonies to roses...Totally Floral! Here's SPRING

The Spring palette is characterized much like the month of May, warm, clear and oh so floral! Though the colors here tend to lean into less saturated territory like baby blues and peach, they shine with the clarity of winter. The colors here are pure and light, steering away from harsh black and white, living in the beiges between. Warm and orangy salmon or cantaloupe favors this group, but even a hot pink might peak through. The Spring palette features carnation colors, soft roses and some of the other pinks you'd find in the garden.

Hot and bright as the Sun! This screams SUMMER

Much like winter palettes, Summer leans hard into a plethora of pink shades thanks to it's overall cool undertones. However, a summer palette generally lacks the clarity seen in winter and instead exhibits soft, less saturated, muted colors like gentle lavenders, true baby blue and minty greens. A vivid pink might make an appearance in this group, like the cool cerise below or a lovely raspberry shade. But Summers shine is soft blush tones, seashell and pearly pinks, strawberry ice cream and carnival cotton candy. Yummm...

Warm, moody, and muted... Let's look at AUTUMN

Now I'll be honest, finding shades of pink for the Autumn palette was quite a challenge. This palette is warm and muted, with moody shades like deep pumpkin, olive greens and mustard yellows. Though it is more saturated than it's warm counterpart, Spring, these colors have an almost whispered intensity. Even neutrals here reside in grounding browns, tans, and camel. Because of it's warm tones, this palette often lacks the bright, almost unnatural pinks that are found in other palettes and instead opts for adjacent, earthy colors like burgundy, mauve or soft corals. Allllmost pink, but not quite. Still, there's always enough to go around and even in moody Autumn, a Barbie Girl can thrive!

Just like there's a Barbie for every career, there's a pink for every wearer. Finding the one that suits you best and makes your features pop is just one more way to look and feel your best.

Be it vivacious fuchsia, deep muted rose, or cotton candy skies, there's a shade for every body! So, hit the mall, get rose-carpet-ready, and I'll pick you up at 8! We've got a movie premier to get to!
